MALAWI

Some places change you. Because of the stories written in the dust, the tears woven into the land.
Stepping into the pain of others is not easy. It costs something. You feel the weight of what has been lost, the deep ache of what should never have been. You see where the enemy tried to steal, kill, and destroy.
And yet—joy. Unmistakable. Unshaken.
Hope rises where it should have been buried. Laughter breaks through where sorrow tried to silence it. Worship echoes in places the enemy thought he had won.
"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." (John 1:5)
There is no brokenness beyond His reach. No night too dark for His light to break through.

EVERYDAY MISSIONS

Missions isn’t just overseas. It isn’t just on a stage or in a program. It’s in the mundane, the unplanned, the everyday. It’s in the grocery store aisle, the coffee shop queue, the casual conversation at the gym. It’s in the moments we don’t schedule but step into, simply because we are available.
The greatest mission field is often the life we are already living. The question is, are we interruptible?
A simple prayer changes everything:
"Here I am, send me."
Send me into their everyday lives to disrupt the lullaby of the enemy. Send me to the neighbor who’s drowning in loneliness, to the barista who’s searching for purpose, to the stranger on a park bench who just needs someone to see them. Let me be present. Let me be willing. Let me be a voice that speaks of living water. The kind that satisfies the thirst they don’t even realize they have.
"Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' And I said, 'Here am I. Send me!'" (Isaiah 6:8)
The mission field is everywhere. The call is simple. Be available.

LET THE GROUND REST

I fought. I pleaded. I prayed with a heart set on the field, hands ready, feet longing to go. I asked again and again, expecting a door to swing wide. And some doors did seem open.
But then, in the quiet, He spoke.
"Let the ground rest."
Not forever. Not in abandonment. But in trust. In surrender. In obedience.
At first, I resisted. I wrestled. But He is patient. And slowly, softly, I have come to rest in the waiting. Not as one forgotten, but as one being prepared. He is healing, restoring, recalibrating my steps for the global trajectory He has set before me.
And in the meantime, the mission is not on pause. The nations may not be my dwelling place today, but the field is still before me. It is right here, in my backyard. The harvest has never been far.
"But in the seventh year the land is to have a year of sabbath rest, a sabbath to the Lord. Do not sow your fields or prune your vineyards." (Leviticus 25:4)

SHORT-TERM RETURN

Some places leave a mark on your soul, not because of the landscape, but because of the people. Those who have labored long, fought hard, and remained faithful when the cost was great. To stand beside them again, even for a short time, is a gift.
The call to return, even briefly, is a reminder: The mission is not ours alone. The work is the Lord’s, and He weaves our paths together in His perfect timing and great grace. The joy is not just in the going, but in standing shoulder to shoulder with those who have given their lives for the sake of the gospel, bearing witness to what He is doing.
"I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now." (Philippians 1:3-5)
For a short time, but for an eternal purpose.

SAYING GOODBYE

Leaving like this was never my plan. It makes you question everything. Did I misunderstand the call? Did I fail? Did I waste what was given?
When the goodbye feels too soon, when the story feels unfinished, and when the breaking wasn’t supposed to happen like this, what then?
God does not turn away from our questions. He does not fear our wrestling. He is the God who met Elijah in the cave, who bore Job’s grief, who answered Habakkuk’s cries. He is near, even when clarity feels far.
"Lord, are you not from everlasting? My God, my Holy One, you will never die... Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines... yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior." (Habakkuk 1:12, 3:17-18)
Even when the leaving doesn’t make sense. Even when the questions remain. Even when the story feels undone. He is still here. And He is not finished yet.
Ultimately, His mission was never mine to control! it has always belonged to Him. And somehow, even in the unplanned goodbyes, He never lost the plot.

INTO THE LIGHT

There was a time when the darkness felt unshakable. When healing seemed like a distant hope, and the silence of isolation was louder than any promise of restoration. It’s hard to believe in light when you’ve known the shadows for so long.

But God does not leave things buried in the dark. He reaches into the places we’ve long since written off, places too painful to touch, too broken to mend. He brings light where there was once only heaviness. Friends where there was once only loneliness. Clarity where there was only uncertainty.

What was meant for harm, He intended for good.

"You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives." (Genesis 50:20)

Healing is not always sudden, and redemption rarely looks how we expect. BUT He is faithful. Even when it feels impossible, He is drawing near. Even when you don’t see it, He is bringing you into the light.

DARK DAYS

Missions isn’t all open doors and easy roads. Sometimes, the path is marked by loss, by plans that unravel, by doors that don’t just close. They collapse. Sometimes, the field is not just a place of harvest but of heartbreak. There are days when the weight of uncertainty presses heavy, when the seeds sown seem stolen away by the wind. Betrayal comes from unexpected places. Hopes fall apart in your hands. Darkness whispers that maybe you were never called at all. A spider web glistens in the morning light. fragile. intricate. delicate. One storm can tear it apart. But the weaver does not despair; he rebuilds, strand by strand. "See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant." (Jeremiah 1:10) There is beauty in the tearing down, not because we see what comes next, but because we trust the One whose hands are at work. The breaking is not the end; it is part of the process. He is never reckless with His undoing. Every dismantling is deliberate. Every loss, every storm, every shattered plan. He holds it all. And He will build again. "We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed." (2 Cor. 4:8-9) Even in the dark days, He is still at work.
